The animal house is designed to safely and comfortably house guinea pigs and rabbits, which are routinely used for feeding the mosquito colonies and for ‘tunnel tests’ (bioassays testing the efficacy of different insecticide formulations on mosquito netting in a glass tunnel). The facility is managed by permanent employed staff to take care of the daily needs of the animals and ensure a high standard of hygiene is maintained. Animal rearing follows standard animal welfare guidelines to ensure the animals are kept under humane conditions.
